Robert David Johnson

Deputy Director, Operation and Works (Acting)
 

R. David Johnson is the Deputy Director, Operation and Works (Acting) at the Public Works Department with responsibility for the Building Maintenance Services, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing as well as Construction Management divisions, overseeing a staff of approximately 75 employees.

Prior to joining the Public Works Department, David has worked in the private sector here in the Cayman Islands in the position of Architect as well as Operations Manager for prominent firms and organizations.

He is currently a member of The Cayman Society of Architects Surveyors and Engineers (CASE) as well as the Cayman Islands Facility Management Association (CIFMA) and is currently an adjunct lecturer at the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI), in the field of Project Management.

The Operation & Works Department within The Public Works Department, currently is composed of a staff of roughly seventy six (76) employees. This includes Professional, Technical, and Support positions.

The Department is divided into three Divisions: Building Maintenance Services (BMS), Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP), and Construction Management Services (CMS). Each Division is coordinated by a Manager­level staff member who then reports directly to the Deputy Director of Operation & Works.

The Public Works Compound is located at 370 North Sound Road in Grand Cayman. There are six main buildings in the complex, in which Administration, Stores & Fleet Management, Workshops and Hurricane Stores are located.

The Public Works Department is responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of Government buildings with a vision statement to produce Government facilities, efficiently and innovatively designed, constructed and maintained by a qualified, proactive and efficient Public Works Department Team in partnership with our Ministry and our valued customers.
