The Public Works Department (PWD) and DHL International (Cayman) Ltd. recently partnered to move 7,000 lbs. of much-need specialty blowers and dehumidifiers to Cayman Brac.

DHL moved the equipment from Tennessee in the US to Miami, Florida, as express freight then by charter plane to the Brac. The equipment helped PWD staff to dry the walls of water-damaged government buildings, said PWD's Deputy Director of Operations and Works Stephen Brown.

"Because of the post-Hurricane Paloma weather and limited barge space, it was extremely difficult to move this equipment from Tennessee to Cayman Brac," he explained.

"Without DHL's assistance we would never have gotten the equipment to the Brac in time. We are especially thankful that they shipped the equipment at cost, giving government a tremendous discount on the freight charges."

Noted DHL Cayman Sales Manager Mark Woollard, "I am pleased we were able to step in and assist Public Works with the massive task they were undertaking."
