A small army of Government, private and National Recovery Fund contractors are deployed on rooftops around Cayman Brac, working to waterproof residents' homes.

Brac resident Hoffman Anderson whose roof has just been finished, says he and his family had continued to live inside since Hurricane Paloma struck just over a month ago.

"When it rained things became very difficult, particularly at night. We would have to spend the whole time running around with mops and buckets. So it feels very good to have a roof again," he comments.

Mr Anderson notes that there is still a lot of work to be done inside the house, although he says he has been able to get help with this from individual people.

It is estimated that 800 homes need roofs repaired or replaced.
